TSP, retirement and early withdrawal penalty

0

Q. I am 55 years old and retiring from federal service in March. Once I retire, can I withdraw all the funds in my Thrift Savings Plan account? If so, will I have to pay a penalty for early withdrawal of my TSP account?

A. You may withdraw your TSP assets after you retire. If you retire during or after the calendar year in which you reach age 55, your TSP withdrawals will be exempt from the early withdrawal penalty.
