Working in the private sector under FERS retirement

0

Q. I am 58 years old and took an eligible early retirement at the age of 53 from USDA. Besides my retirement annuity, I receive a supplemental annuity as well. If I work for the private sector, will my annuities be affected?

A. You FERS annuity will not be affected, but your special retirement supplement may be reduced by the earned income offset. For 2016, your SRS will be reduced by $1 for every $2 you earn in excess of $15,720.
